Adjectives Grammar Rules

In general adjectives are words which describe or modify another person or object in a given sentence. For example: a beautiful flower the adjective is [beautiful] because it describes the noun [flower]. The following examples use adjectives in different ways and places to demonstrate how they behave in a sentence.

Grammar Rules - Malayalam + Pronunciation
my house is white
[noun + adjective] എന്ടെ വീടിന് വെള്ള നിറമാണ് Audio [eneṭe vīṭeine veḷeḷe neiṟemaṇ]
your country is big
[noun + adjective] നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജ്യം വലുതാണ് Audio [neineneḷu ṭe rajeye' velu thaṇ]
new books are expensive
[plural + adjective] പുതിയ പുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍ വിലയേറിയതാണ് Audio [pu theiye pu sethekneneḷe‍ veileyeṟeiyethaṇ]
we are happy here
[pronoun + verb + adjective] ഞങ്ങള്‍ ഇവിടെ സന്തുഷ്ടരാണ് Audio [ñeneneḷe‍ iveiṭe senethu sśeṭeraṇ]
she has three small dogs
[adjective + plural] അവള്‍ക്ക് മുന്ന് ചെറിയ പട്ടിയുണ്ട് Audio [aveḷe‍kk mu nene cheṟeiye peṭeṭeiyu ṇeṭ]
this language is very easy
[adverb + adjective] ഈ ഭാഷ വളരെ എളുപ്പമാണ് Audio [ī bhasśe veḷere eḷu pepemaṇ]
I have a small green house
[adjective + adjective] എനിക്ക് ഒരു പച്ച വീട് ഉണ്ട് Audio [eneikk oru pechch vīṭe uṇeṭ]

We're not done yet! The following is a list of more adjectives for you, often used when referring to weather conditions. I think it would be wise to memorize them.

Conversation in Malayalam

Now we finally reach the most exciting part, the practice of the daily expressions used in almost every conversation. I recommend memorizing these phrases, because you will need them for sure.

hi ആഹ് [ah] Audio
how are you? എങ്ങനെ ഉണ്ട് [enenene uṇeṭ] Audio
I'm good, thank you നല്ലത്, നന്ദി [nelelethe, nenedei] Audio
